Well it has finally happened. We have become our parents from a historical perspective. This midlife revelation came to me as I entered the East Liverpool High School play, Back to the 80’s the Musical.
It was a comical retrospective look at our music, our styles and our culture. My daughter was in the play and struggled to determine what her 80’s style costume would look like. After much heated debate with my wife, she settled on a lets say toned down Madonna meets Flash Dance type of outfit as did most of the girls in the production. To this generation the 80’s are the 50’s. After all, 1984 was 28 years ago.
What really drove this home to me was my reflection on the Oak Glen production of the Musical Grease and how we too emulated and yes lampooned the bobby sock, poodle skirt generation. Although poodle skirts have given way to big hair and leg warmers the message was clear, I and yes we are no longer getting old. We are old.
On a positive note, I see that KISS, Def Leopard and Motley Crue are playing this summer at the Pittsburgh Amphitheater. I guess our Hair Band music wasn’t so bad after all. It made me feel better when I purchased the tickets.
Still ready to Rock- On but not in a Rocking Chair yet,
Phil

Hello everyone, it has been awhile since I posted an update. I wanted to let everyone know that we are moving on after living in Florida for the past ten years. My wife Wendy and our three children Nathan, Austin and Hannah are moving to Los Angles, California. It is a big move across the country. We will miss Florida, but are all excited. There are alot of new and fun adventures awaiting us. Take care and I will post another update soon.

Just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas. It`s been so wonderful catching up with several of you on Facebook -- I love it! (as you can probably tell ;)
Recession has been hard on us, but the kids are loving life and thriving. Tim and I celebrated our 20th anniversary in May. Rocco, 13, is thisclose to being as tall as his dad. He loves wrestling (wrestles at 150), and also plays football and is a throws for the track team. Jean, 11, plays soccer and basketball, and is on swim team in the summer, and she plays the flute too (like her mommy waaaayyy back when)! Dominic, 4, plays soccer (already!) and a hilarious game called Pillo Hockey. We have a ball trying to keep up with them!
Wishing you all a healthy and prosperous 2010. See you on Facebook!

Hello, all! It`s unbelievable that another year is almost over and gone once again. It has been a busy year in our house. My younger son graduates from Marshall University in May. We are really looking forward to that. My oldest daughter just turned 20 on the 7th. She is a straight A student in the Nursing program at WVU. We are really proud of her. My younger daughter is a Freshman at Oak Glen this year and she is loving it! She is also a straight A student, even in her honors classes and we count our blessings every day with her. I would love to hear how everyone else is doing. Drop me a line if you get a chance. And Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all!

My name is actually spelled SIEWIYUMPTEWA. My husband and I just returned from the Grand Canyon for the 10 millionth time. This time we went to a place called Lava Falls. I have seen just about all of the southern rim. One day we will build our hunting cabin there and enjoy the rest of our lives but for now we must live in Colorado. But we do enjoy it very much and so do our kids.

Hello everyone! I am sorry that we will not be able to make this reunion either. We initially planned to attend, but my husband began a new job in March, my father died in late April and so much has been going on since that time. Hi All,
Sorry I won`t make the reunion this year. We (myself, husband Andy, and 2 girls, Kim 9ys, and Megan almost 7yrs) live in Denver, Co. We`ll be back to Chester the following weekend for my parents 50th anniversary. Sounds like our class is really getting spread out. I saw Utah, Wy, Montana, Florida among others. We love Denver, the weather is great, lots of sunshine. Our girls just finished swim team and Kim is looking forward to her 1st sleep away horse camp. We love pool time, going to the mountains, biking and camping (though we don`t go often) I work very park-time as a dental hygienist. Other than that I hang with the girls. Wish you all the best.

Hey, this might be a silly question at this stage in the game, but what are we wearing to the reunion? Are we going casual like jeans and t-shirts, or dressing up? Or is it our choice?

Hey Everyone!
I just found some interesting items from the class of 84, lol
I have a Sr Class Will, a copy of the BEAR FACTS, newspaper from May of 84. I will bring them to the reunion, if we still have it. Has any one heard if things are still as planned? Chat again soon, Patty

I`m sorry to hear that you needed surgery Jeff (Sherman) but I`m glad you`re doing better. My prayers go out to you and your family. I`m sorry the plans for the reunion aren`t going so well. I will not be able to come because my family and I just made a huge move to Gillette, Wyoming from Mount Vernon, Ohio. It`s not cheap to move let alone all the way across the United States. I hope everything works out for everyone with the reunion or just all you getting together for a relaxing evening with friends. Take care and God Bless to you all. Barb Lucas (Simpson)

WOW!! We have a huge conversation going on!! I really hope that we will be able to keep the reunion on...My husband (Bill Good) and I are still planing to come to WV for that weekend. We live in North Carolina, and just had to make a trip up there in early June, Bill`s dad died. :*( I am saying a prayer that everyone who wants to come will be able to. And if by some chance the reunion does get cancelled, we will still be there, jsut keep everyone informed about what the plan is!! Love to all!!
ps** Robin, have you recieved our check??

Crystal (Watson) Cunningham
Well, hello everyone! I have heard from several of you and all right, all right, already!!! I`m bowing to the pressure. Robbi it seems that you are right, and I have found a way to juggle some things so that I can afford to come with my husband. Remember that guy I married right out of high school? Well 25 years later we`re still together. And maybe where there`s a will, there`s a way, so count me in!!!! I will be sending my registration in on the 26th (payday) if we can avoid cancellation that long. And for those of you who made the kind offers (you know who you are) thank you and god bless! See you all there!
|
| 6/18/2009

ok... I`m in. I`m mailing out my registration and payment tomorrow. Hopefully we can still pull off a successful reunion.

Susan (Scritchfield) Greathouse
Well everyone I too was planning on coming to the reunion this year. Even though my family and I live about 4 1/2 hours away I was really looking forward to being there. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law passed away last month and had no insurance and left my husbands family and my brother with a decision to make, do we go to Ohio and pay for her funeral or do I keep the money and go to the reunion? Well hopefully no one is angry with us for choosing to take care of family first. I am still trying to work on saving the money to get there hopefully everything will work out and we will see you all there. All I can do is ask God for his help to make that possible and leave it in his hands. Hope all is well with everyone and God bless you all.
|
| 6/17/2009
Connie (Quick) Sherman
To let you all know, Jeff and I won`t be able to attend the reunion this time. Jeff had spinal fusion surgery on May 27th and will be unable to travel for some time. So far, his recovery has gone very well and we`re hopeful that the surgery was successful in alleviating his pain. Time will tell. We live in Great Falls, Montana (since November 2006). Both of our kids will be in highschool next year, Evan a junior and Emily a freshman. I hope the reunion does happen. I`m so sad to miss this one. Connie

Karen (Sandy) Oliveira
I am sorry. I am one of the procrastinators! I didn`t realize it was going to be a problem. I read the email as saying pay early by June 18 or pay late by June 30. Today is only June 17. I will send my check out tomorrow morning. I hope it makes a difference. My hubby and I will be at church camp but are still planning on attending. That is...unless we smoke too many cigs or drink too many Coronas that day!! LOL! Just kidding!(FYI..we don`t drink or smoke here). I just had to say it because that made me giggle Robbi!!
My apologies to Robin for the inconvenience.
|
| 6/17/2009
Tamera (Wright) Tennant
For people that live close giving up those things could work. But not in my case, I have nothing to give up that would net me enough for 2 airline ticke`s totaling $ 2,672.20.
That`s what it costs from Ak. to Wv. We wanted to come because it`s on the way to see our son graduate from the Naval Basic Training. Instead we`ll go down when he graduates from sub school. Sorry Robin
|
| 6/17/2009
Lucy (Yanko) Baker
Well, I don`t have an airtight alibi like Connie and Jeff, but I`ve been trying to sweet-talk my way out of a mandatory Saturday at work that week -- one of the many joys of our `you`re lucky you have a job at all` economy.
I`ll most likely know by the end of this week whether we can travel without the risk of bringing heffe down on my back. I hope this happens -- Hubby and I haven`t missed a-one since 1989!

Robin, Thanks for the list! I appreciate all you are trying to do to pull this reunion together. I will make contact with the few I know that was going to make the reunion but seems not to have comfirmed with you. If there is anything I can do let me know.

Dave Huggins
I sent my check yesterday, so you can count me in. This morning I suggested to Robin, more or less, that we sit tight until we see what registrations she receives by the end of the week until we decide to pull the plug and/or make alternative arrangements. Most folks procrastinate until the last minute, but in this case we need to understand and appreciate the position Robin is in. She didn`t have to volunteer to do this. Only the folks dragging their feet are the ones to blame. Buddies of mine in Weir High`s Class of `84 had theirs last weekend, and it was a success. Saddens me to think a majority of our classmates will drop the ball on our 25th. Haven`t missed one yet - would hate to miss this one.

I originally said that I was interested in coming, but have not confirmed yet. I graduated a year early and didn`t know many of you. I think from the original list of 60, I only knew (somewhat) Patty, Rusty, and Crystal. I`d still consider going, if I knew someone that I know would be around. Is there a list of the 12 who confirmed?

what a great looking family Tina!
It`s great that everyone can keep in touch here.
Staying busy here...my son Aaron was just in the fall play at school, ”Altar Egos - the I do`s and Don`ts of the American Wedding” He played the father of the groom. He is in handbell choir and band and busy with both!
The stepsons are both busy with soccer, choir and the oldest works all the time so we never see him anymore.
Hope everyone has a ”stress-free” holiday season!

Hello!...Have read the different posts here recently. Looks like there will be a big turnout for the 25th reunion this year. Not sure if Kevin (Hubby) and I will be able to make it though. We usualy do our traveling from home in the winter. 55 below or colder is the ideal time to explore the warmer climates. Businesses are still going good. We`ll be celebrating our 25th this year. 28 if you count the time we`ve been together. All the kids are doing great. My granddaughter is a joy. And soon I`ll be blessed with a grandson. You all take care.

Oh my lands! Carrie Roush at a reunion! Will wonders never cease? (It will be GREAT to see you!) I`m currently putting the rush on some homemade Halloween costumes and looking forward to fall sports ending. Jean, 10, is playing soccer, and Rocco, 12 going on 17, is playing football. Dominic, 2 going on 12, is just along for the ride. Tim and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary in May. (gawd, that sounds impossible!) We had a spectacular summer (took the older kids to France), but now I`m barely keeping my head above water -- layoffs are looming at my newspaper :( If you want to catch up with my parenting missteps, check out my entries at www.DaytonDailyNews.com/mommy. Anybody into Facebook? I`ve recently become addicted.

My husband Mike spent 20 years in US. Army and we haved traveled everywhere and got out right before the war. He is now a Journeyman in Sheetmetal.

Wow, I have been looking at the site and the 1983 site and they are great! I haven`t updated in a long time so here goes...Moved to Tucson, AZ in 2004. My job brought me here. I`m still in retail management, and my husband relocated his saddle business here. Bought a place outside of town and LOVE Arizona (except for maybe in July)! Haven`t been back to WV since around 2002. Still miss the seasons. They are sure different in the Wild West! I really loved seeing the class of 1983 too. So many of you I have wondered about over the years. Please contact me anytime!

Hi Everyone!
How is everyone doing??? I`ve really enjoyed the updates given in the guest book. I can`t believe it`s almost time for another reunion. Things are going very well for me and my family. We ended up not moving to WI and instead now live in Grover, Mo., which is just West of St. Louis. I am currently working as an RN at Missouri Baptist Medical Center on the Neuro/Renal floor. I care for those who have had strokes and a lot of patients who are in renal failure. If you would have ask me in 1984 what I would be doing in 25 years, I would have never dreamed that I would be a RN. My husband is still working as a computer programmer. My daughter, Jessica, is now 14 and will be going to Italy in 2009 through her school. She will be traveling from Rome to Athens, including a cruise! We sure didn`t have too many of those opportunities back in our day! My son, Tyler, is now 10 making straight A`s and taking advance math classes. The kids are still interested in martial arts and have recently taken up archery. I`m really looking forward to seeing all my classmates at the reunion in 2009! Take care everyone and be safe until we meet again! Sandy

Got the update for the 25th class reunion. Not sure what next year will bring but Hubby and I would love to be there! All businesses are doing good. Boy`s are growing fast! Trevor is 18 and Travis is 17. Kevin and I celebrate our 25 th wedding anniversary this year. Still live in North Pole, Alaska. Right accross the street from I kid you not, Santa Clause House. I love Christmas and it`s fun to live somewhere where Christmas is celebrated all year long! Then the tourists go home and we bed down for the bitter winter months. -55 below and not a sound to be heard, it`s so quiet. Oh that`s the real temp to, not no wind chill. We have no wind when it gets that cold.
Brrrrr....

Hello everyone! It`s really great to see some old faces and read updates on old friends. I`ve been living in Chicago for 4 1/2 years and am [still] in graduate school. My children are old compared to most of yours -- my son Jevon is 24 and my daughter Tana is 19. Jevon is in business school, Tana is in culinary school. I actually graduated a year early but I still feel more a part of the class of 1984! Some of you probably know my ex-husband, Steve Shaw. He`s living in Germany and has been in the Army for almost 25 years.

It`s so great to check this site once in a while to get the latest and see how everyone is. I havent`t really updated personal info in a while so here goes: I live in North Carolina, (near Bill & Judy Good as a matter of fact.) I have been married for 21 years to Tonya, Class of 86, and we have a boy and three girls. I am currently a Photojournalism student and will be getting my BA from UNC.
We do plan on making the 25th reunion. I drive a red car and..no...enough already. Oh, I did forget to mention, my new and improved website can be found at

WOW! Tina you`re doing a great job with this website. This is my first visit and i defineately will have to keep checking in. Hard to believe it has been so long...and some of us still look the same-a little older but pretty much still the same. I married Tim Collins(1985) and we have two great kids, Tasha (21) and Tim Jr (19). Tim and I are currently going through a divorce, who would think after 22 years, but time changes things. I live in Chester and work as an LPN at Weirton Medical Center on skilled care...I work with Amy Hanselman (also from class of 1984).
Tamera, if you read this, i would love to hear from you and see how things are going for you, Kevin and the boys. I will check in again when i have an updated email, just moved last weekend and haven`t got mu puter back from my daughter yet. It was great reading about everyone and I love the pictures!

After reading Lucy`s notes, I just had to add...
I have moved back to the area, can`t believe I left Florida warm weather for this. I must be crazy. But anyway, I also have two grandbabies, Alisa,3,and Caleb, 18 months. They are in Georgia. I am also engaged, and maybe this year we will actually get married. Why change something that works great??
So to all, a GREAT NEW YEAR, and Lucy, bite your tongue, we are not getting old, just better!!!
|
| 1/8/2008
Lucy (Yanko) Baker
OMG -- it`s hard to believe the news I`ve been reading on this site: grandbabies (although we should have expected it from Sheila and Brian!), engagements, new homes, new jobs and lots of trombonists in training. Seems it`s an exciting time for the Class of `84. Maybe we`re not that old after all.
Tom and Phil, my 12-year-old son`s a wrestler now (130 lbs.). (Every now and then I think back to those days when my mat maid buddies and I salivated after Rocky Cain. He`s still married to Mary Beth (Ossman) Grimes` sister!) It`s my son Rocco`s (no, I didn`t name him after Mr. Cain!) third year as a grappler and he loves it even more than WVU football.
Daughter Jean is 9 and loves to play soccer, hang out with her guinea pig and read, read, read. She`s currently freaking out over an upcoming spelling bee. And if I see one more episode of ”The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” or ”Hannah Montana” I just may barf.
Son Dominic recently turned 2 and is more ornery than the older two put together. His favorite game is swordplay (Lord, help me).
I miss you all and hope to see a lot of you for the 25th. Rusty, long time no hear! Still playing bass?
Stacey, give me a call soon. I have interesting news about Lynn.
Another plug for the blog I never seem to have time for: www.DaytonDailyNews.com/mommy. If only I had picked up some time management skills in the seventh grade as well!

Robbi (Wright) Taber
I definitely don`t check in here often enough! Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. We did! Since I last checked in here....I met a terrific man and we moved to Columbiana, Ohio. His name is Rob Taber. We`ve been together for two years now and we will be getting married this summer. Rob has two sons, Dylan and Eric. My son Aaron lives with us, his two boys live in Massillon with their mom. I`ve sent some pics to Tina to add to the photos section.
I still work at the Columbiana County Department of Job & Family Services in Lisbon. I am an Eligibility Referral Specialist, underpaid and overworked! Rob is employed full-time at the Morning Journal as Ass`t home delivery manager and he works part-time at the Austintown Wal*Mart.
Dylan (16) plays soccer for Massillon Washington High School, he is in Choir and he is (was) a ”Sophomoron” and his goal for next year is to be a ”Village Idiot!” If Tina can get the pictures uploaded, you`ll see D`s picture from the last Massillon football game this year.
Aaron (my son) is 15, he plays trombone for Lisbon Band (he is THE trombone player - the band only has 25 members!!) he is affectionately known as ”Footloose” around the school ( he sang a karaoke solo once in 8th grade - the name stuck!!) and he is active in the theater. They did High School Musical last spring and Just Another High School Play this fall.
Eric is 12 and he plays soccer and baseball and he is in the Massillon Middle school choir.
Wow!! too much to write here!!
Tina - any plans for our 25th?
Hope you all have a healthy and prosperous 2008!

Happy new year! We are now living in central Florida. It`s very nice here now, but back in July and August I was seriously regretting the heat! We are building a new home and will move in just a few weeks so it is a pretty exciting time for my family. I'm fairly busy with my children. My daughter dances ballet and is a brownie scout - anyone want to buy girl scout cookies?? My son plays trombone in a concert band and is a cub scout. We are having lots of fun! I'm eager to move in to our new home to get back to my favorite hobby - gardening. Although, I am in a completely new zone here in tropical Florida.

Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone had a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! I survived mine, lol ... All is well here at the moment and I am happy 2007 is over, WHEW!! what a year it was for us. Both daughters are doing well at this time, both went through some health issues, and both made full and healthy recoveries. My son is doing good, just counting the days to graduate OG, in May. The grandbabies are growing like wild weeds and are healthy! I hope to try and get some pics posted on here for all to see soon, our computer went on the blink and we are just now getting it up and running again. Well I gotta run.. Everyone take care and God Bless, Patty

December 8, 2007
Christmas Greetings Friends!
The Rowe Family hopes that all are doing well this year as we prepare to celebrate the season. As usual, the Rowe House is a conglomerate of activity and chaos! Not ones to let the proverbial moss grow under our feet, we go several different directions, usually at the same time!
It’s a girl! For those of you who haven’t heard, yes, we have a new person in the Rowe House. Her name is Janel Krafft, and she is 18 years old. Janel has been living with us since the end of August 2006, and we just love her, especially Laura. Janel graduated last year from East Liverpool High School and is studying education at YSU.
This year Rob is a sophomore and at East Liverpool High School with my wife as one of his teachers. He lettered in football as the starting nose guard on defense with the varsity football team and he will be a second year letterman in wrestling at 189 lbs. barring any injuries as he lettered last year as a freshman.
Cathy now is in middle school, a seventh grader! She loves changing classes but hates all the homework. Cathy is learning time management this year! Last year as a 6th grader she kept stats for the 8th grade girls’ volleyball team, but this year she made the seventh grade team and her team was the BMAC Volleyball Champions.
Laura, my baby, is in kindergarten. (Yes, I have one in college, one in high school, one in middle school, and one in kindergarten!)
I now work for FirstEnergy at the FirstEnergy Corporate Office Building in Akron, so I have a bit of a commute. This is Julie’s 21st year teaching at ELHS and she still sell Mary Kay and love every minute of it. Cathy hates to go anywhere in public with Julie because everyone knows me and wants to talk (if the person isn’t her former or present student, then (s)he is probably a Mary Kay customer!) It takes us forever to get errands done!
We at the Rowe House hope that the New Year will usher in abundant blessings to all friends and family. Have a great and prosperous New Year and keep in touch!
Best Wishes!
Julie, Phil, Robbie, Janel,
Cathy and Laura

Just a quick note to all classmates of 84`.
Mostly the classmates from the Newell area. Sharon (Barron) McKenzie, passed away Nov 21, 2007. Sharon was with the class of 84` but, left school to be homebound in 1983, she is survived by 3 children. Services for Sharon will be held at Arner`s, here in Chester, on Tues., Nov. 27, 2007, from 2-4 with service following visitation. Sharon struggled many years with health issuse`s, but is now pain free and at peace, and with her loved ones whom passed before here. I ask that those who wish too, that knew her well or not, to take a brief moment and say a prayer for her children and family.
Thank you, and God Bless, Patty

Hi Everyone!,
Wow the time has flown by so fast, since I last posted here. Well to begin with, I made the plunge to re-marry, in April, we had a blast in Vegas, visted with a friend from class of 82 while there. Then she flew back here for a few days in July. We are returning in June for 2 weeks, taking my son this time, as part of his grad gift. He is so excited. Had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, and Dr say all looks good, just have to stay on track for all follow up appts. and future testing. Now my youngest girl Maria, is getting ready to have biopsy done as well for cancer, and she deliverd my 3rd grandbaby was born 8-2-07, by emergancy c-section, she weighed in at 4 lb 15 oz, 19 in long. She was full term, but my daughter had some last min complications in the last few weeks and the baby could not gain the weight she should have. But on the up side Little Miss Kymber Autumn, is doing very well and growing, gaining weight, her Dr`s are very pleased with that, her momma, my daughter Maria, is healing well, and is a awesome momma! Kymber is a miracle, as Dr`s told us since maria was young she may never be able to carry a baby, let alone actually deliver one and with Kymber`s birth, it actually is a good thing, cause we may never known about Maria being at risk to possiably have cancer. I will keep you all posted when we get results. If ya all would, say a little prayer for Maria, I would really appreciate it! The older 2 grandbabies love Kymber to pieces! Sadie will start pre-school soon, and Anthony will most likely hang out with me, gonna be hard as they are very attached to one another.
Their momma Keisha,is attending Northern for nursing and may be starting a EMT classes next week, whew what a work load she`s gonna have! My son Daniel, finally has made it to his SR yr at OG. He is counting the days already, lol I plan on attending the next reuion, so Tina if ya need any help from this end, Please let me know. I will gladly help in any way I can. Hope all is well for all of you, hope to hear back from ya,I will also try to get pics of the babies and get them posted on here for ya all see. Take care and God Bless, Patty

Hi everyone!
It seems like a life time since the 2004 reunion. I`m going to graduate May 18TH as an RN. I will then be moving to Wisconsin. I can`t wait to see everyone again! My daughter is now 13 and my son is 9. They are both active in martial arts. Jessica will soon test for her green belt and Tyler will be testing for his blue belt. They will both go to a tournament on May 26TH in Milwaukee, WI. One thing is for sure - I always have two bodyguards with me when we go out.
I would love to here from some classmates, so drop a line to my email and I`ll be sure to drop a line back.
Everyone take care and be safe in your journeys.
Sandy

Hi All! I have been enjoying all these updates from everyone and realized that I have not posted any news in a while. The biggest news in my life lately is that I am homeschooling my six-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son. It was a bit overwhelming at first. However, now we have the hang of it and are really having a good time with it. I`m curious - is anyone else homeschooling?

Hi guys,
Sorry we missed the last reunion, just plain too busy.
We recently bought a farm, and I am in process of setting up a horse ranch. Hope to add cabins and guide trail rides within the next couple of years. Still have the house in Weirton Heights, so if you know of anyone looking to buy or rent, PLEASE refer them to me.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Hey Eberyone! Hope all is well for you all! We are awaiting the arrival of a 3rd grandbaby mid August! My youngest daughter Maria this time. My older 2 grandbabies are growing like wild weeds and waiting for spring to get here, mostly little Sadie, she can`t wait to get on her lil 50cc quad to ride again. Only 2 1/2 and can drive one pretty good. Now Anthony is only a few months past 1 yr but I don`t see any problem with him getting into the riding quads and such with his sister. And they can`t wait for the pool to be opened, they love the water like crazy! My kids are making me older by the day! LOL LOL Just to let you all know, my name will change come April 28, 2007. I am getting married, then I am off to Las Vegas for a week to enjoy some qaulity time with the MR. Then it will be back to reality, kids, grandbabies and work and such! But I have already changed in the contact info I have posted. Well I hope to hear from any of ya. Take care and Glod Bless, Patty

New baby, new e-mail address! Tim and I became the proud parents of Dominic Aaron on Nov. 25, 2005. He's very laid-back, despite constant stimuli from his older siblings. His first photo-op is posted on the Baby Gallery at kmcnetwork.org. Come spring, Mike and Sandy LaScola will become his godparents (Mike is Sicilian, you know, so he's the perfect choice for 'Godfather'). Wishing you all much happiness in the coming year! Personal to Connie and Jeff: Your kids remind me of you two as youngsters. Looking at their familiar faces takes me into a time warp. And Stacey: I hope to get a new pic of your cute-as-a-button daughter soon! --lucyb"

Everyone should join with me in offering Mike Herron our deepest sympathy on the recent passing of his father. Please keep Mike and his family in your prayers. Mike's dad played a very important role in my life. He tolerated numerous/rowdy sleepovers, provided lots of laughs and good memories, put up with some pretty annoying sunday school students, and he also presented me with my Boy Scout Eagle Award. He was a very good man and father. In terms of Mike and his brother Matt - the fruit doesn't fall too far from the tree. I'm truly sorry to learn of his death. Mike - you're in my prayers.......David

What a great reunion! We all owe Tina a huge THANK YOU for all her hard work and perserverance in putting together such a wonderful event. No thanks necessary for the nametags - it was my pleasure. Besides, I derived much satisfaction from looking at how sweet and innocent people tried to appear in the senior pics. Ha! I really enjoyed seeing everyone who attended. The Class of '84 has aged very well! I rarely ever get to see any classmates, and the reunions always remind me what great people I grew up with. Stay in touch, and since we're only getting older - be sure to rest up for the 25th reunion in '09. Be safe/well.......David"

Hi All! It's been a long time since I've spoken with any of you. And now I live even farther away - Seattle, WA - working for Microsoft. I've worked many years now in the software industry, but currently have the coolest job I've had yet as I'm on the Microsoft Game Studios team. So for the past 2 years I've been making games for Uncle Bill. I have been married since 1987. My wife is April, our son Mason was born in 1990, our daughter Gray was born in 1992. If I make it to the reunion, I think that whoever has the shortest distance to travel should buy a drink for the one with the longest distance to travel. ;-)"

Hi- I'm still living in New York. I've been married for 16 years and together with my husbond Mark for 19 years. We have a 7 year old daughter Kayla Shaye, and a 2 year old boy, Marcus. I've been a busy stay at home mom for 8 years now, my husbond is a steamfitter out of local 21 in Yonkers, NY. I won't be able to make the reunion this time because my daughter will still be in school. Should be home to chester for 2 weeks sometime in July. Maybe I'll run into some old cronies while I'm visiting. Have a good reunion to those who can make it, hopefully I'll be able to make the 25th."

Halloween rocks! Click here for a picture of our costumes. My daughter, Julia, is three years old. She is, of course, a princess. My son, Tommy, is five and is an army soldier complete with combat helmet and binoculars. We had a great time terrorizing the neighborhood. Probably just like at all of your houses, we now have more candy than we could possibly eat before Easter! I hope you all had a good time also.

Hi all: I'm hoping to attend the 20-Year Reunion next June. Tina -- You've done a super job on the post cards to everyone and the website. I've enjoyed reading through some of the other messages. Like everyone else, things have been changing. This time last year, I started working for the Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, Bill Howell. I'm his Chief of Staff. Also, earlier this month we moved into our new home. My new HOME address is 9309 Cragmont Drive, Richmond, VA 23229. Our family visited with some friends this summer in Portugal (if you've not tried port, I highly recommend it!) and we spent some time down at the beach in SC. I'm busy with elections this fall, but will try to check back more frequently now that I have the book mark. Anyway, I'll try to send some pictures next time. Heard from Barb (Emery) Naymick recently about their move to Atlanta. Also, congrats to Stacey Merchant on her new baby. And Sue (McKitrick) Bernabei: if you're out there, give me a call sometime. Our home number is the same as before (804) 359-5547. All the best, GP

I am married for 13 yrs. to Joe Naymick (class of 1983). We have one son Alex, who is 31/2 years old. I haven't attended a reunion yet, but am looking forward to attending the 20th. Great work Tina. The web site is great.

Hi All! I just wanted to clarify that our 20-year reunion is scheduled for June 12, 2004...next summer. I think that I mislead some people by sending out the invitation more than a year in advance. Sorry for the confusion. I had to reserve it early because those sort of locations book up early - especially for Saturday dates. You have a whole year to plan for it....see you there!

Hi everyone! I have been living in Mount Vernon, OH now for almost 9 years. I have been with my husband Mike for 20 years; dated for 4 years and married for 16. It just seems like yesterday we were all still in high school. I have an 11 year old son - he and my husband are my life. I am a preschool teacher for Knox County Head Start and have been teaching for 4 years. I found out about this web site from Chris (Morgan) Anderson. You've done a really great job Tina. I won't be able to make it to the reunion, but hopefully the next one.

Hi all! I have been stewing about an idea since our last reunion. What do you all think about creating a college scholarship fund for an OG grad? We could call it the 1984 Oak Glen Alumni Fund. Each of us '84 alums could donate whatever amount you want. Then interested seniors could write an essay on the topic 'How I want my life to be twenty years from now'. All of us who have contributed to the scholarship fund would then vote on the essays to choose the winner. I would be happy to coordinate the effort. Please let me know your thoughts on this.

I am in my fourth year as the Director of Communications and Government Relations at the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). I previously worked in the Governor's Office, where I was the speechwriter for Governor (now U.S. Senator) George Allen, R-VA. I also used to work up on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC for U.S. Representative Herbert H. Bateman, R-VA. My wife, Mary Augusta Barham, and I were married in October 1996 and we had our first and only child in December 1998. His name is Barham (bear-um) and he is now 3 1/2 years old. We just got back from a week's holiday in southern California, where I was in a friend's (from England) wedding. I've recently heard from Jonathan Lucas, who also lives in Richmond, VA. I've also received several e-mails from other OGHS alums, but haven't yet responded. Finally, does anyone really like their Sr. Class portrait? Would that I had graduated in the first OGHS class of 1964, when the Beetles and bangs were in. C'est la vie! GP

Hi all - I just checked out the site and see that Tina has been very busy. The '99 reunion photos are a hoot, and very much regret not being able to attend. Anyway, I'm in Richmond, Virginia; married; have a 2 1/2 year old son (Barham); and work in government (surprise!); and get back to NC maybe once or twice a year to see my folks. I'd enjoy hearing from anyone and will try to send out some e-mails to individuals in the near future. Cheers for now! GP

We have out grown our house in Arroyo Village on route 208 if anyone is looking to buy. We are building in Calcutta, Ohio on Stagecoach road. I'll update my email when it changes. Everyone should join with me in offering Dave Huggins our sympathy on the passing of his mother. Keep him and his family in your prayers.

Wow, 2000 is done and gone. What a year it was -- a pretty good one for me. I had a daughter this past July. She is sweet and smiles all the time. Her name is Julia Grace and she looks just like her Dad. Well, except for the beard (he has a beard...not her). My family and I finally moved into a house this past November. Believe it or not, this is my first house. I have a full-sized washer/dryer and a yard. I feel like such a GROWNUP! (ha ha) I had been living like a nomad moving from town to town since I left New Cumberland back in 1984. My career also took a turn in 2000. I am now managing web development at my company. I cut my teeth on this website when I started it about 2 years ago. So, you all have been my training ground -- Thanks! I don't get to update it as much as I could at first (reason: 2-year-old son and 6-month-old daughter) I hope 2001 brings good stuff to you and your loved ones. Take good care of yourself.

Just something funny for all the fellow basketball players, or anyone who remembers what a great team we had. I was coaching in the Virginia Beach city league for girls 11-13. Hello All! I know I have seen or heard from any of you in over what seems like as a hundred years or maybe at least that long to me. I have been thinking alot about all of you since I had to leave in my senior year to go to another school. I was wondering how you are all doing? If you want to remember me , feel free to e-mail me I would love to hear from anyone. I live in Orlando, Florida with my husband and 4 children. I would love to hear what all of you are doing and whether you are married, if you have children and how life is treating you. I work for a large Title Insurance Company and have had many positions here. I am in the mood for a change and am going to take the chance at becoming a Supervisor. I don't ever think that I would have ever been the type to tell people what to do. Well I hope to hear for you all soon.
